Samuel Wayne Champion

June 26, 1945 — November 9, 2019

Samuel Wayne Champion, 74 of Double Springs, entered into rest on Saturday, November 9, 2019 at his home surrounded by his loving family.

Mr. Champion was born on June 26, 1945 in Anniston, Alabama. He was a member of Union Grove Church in the Black Pond Community. Samuel proudly served his country in the United States Army during the Vietnam War and retired after 20 years of service. He enjoyed being with people and especially loved telling others about God.

The family will have a Memorial Service on Thursday, November 14, 2019 at 10am at Union Grove Church in the Black Pond Community. Brother Mickey Millican will officiate.

Samuel is survived by his wife of 49 years, Kathleen Champion; sons, Jeffrey Champion and his wife Bobbeth, Mark A. W. Champion and Samuel B. Champion; brother, Larry Champion and his wife Marie; sisters, Brenda Keplinger and her husband Jesse, and Carolyn Volesky and her husband Ron. He was “Paw Paw” to 2 grandchildren Kyla Morgan Champion and Lily Katherine Champion.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Sam and Mildred Black Champion; and sister, Mary Jones.
