Larry Avis Overton

Larry Avis Overton, 67 of Houston, entered into rest June 24, 2020 at his residence.

Larry was born January 10, 1953 in Winston County, on County Road 35 in a log cabin, to Willie and Pauline Brewer Overton. He graduated from Deerfield High School, Deerfield, Florida. He retired from Pilgrim’s Pride in Russellville after 20 years. Larry loved cruises, flea markets, yards sales and gospel music.

Visitation will be held on Monday, June 29, 2020 from 5-6pm at Fairview Missionary Baptist Church in Double Springs, where services will be at 6pm. Brother Buford Smith will officiate. Burial will be in the adjoining cemetery.

Larry is survived by his sons, Sean Overton and his wife Erica, and Steven Overton; 5 grandchildren, Stephane Nichols, Shelley Maury, Alura Nichols, Ashley Sims and Adam Overton; 7 great-grandchildren, Juliet Maury, Alana Maury, Jasmine Weill, Kerrie Weill, Sky Weill and Micheal Scott (due in December); brother: Fredy Overton, Double Springs; Curtis Overton, Las Vegas, Nevada; sister, Doris Brookes, Double Springs; nephews, Corey Overton and his wife Angela, Jeffery Weiss, Ricky Overton and his wife Taelor, Bryan Overton, and Richard Brookes and wife Naomi; nieces, Juanita Woods Mobley and her husband Allen, Jerice Chambers and her husband Mike, Stacee Overton and her boyfriend Kevin Mitchell; and a host of great-nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Willie and Pauline Overton; and niece, Brandi Overton.

In lieu of flowers, Larry requested donations be made to Alabama Children’s Hospital.
