Faye Brasher

Callie Faye Brasher, 83, of Haleyville, entered into rest on August 22, 2019 at her home surrounded by her loving family. Mrs. Brasher was born July 9, 1936 in Hokes Bluff, Alabama. She lived a life of special service as the wife of Reverend Billy Eugene Brasher for 61 years. Together they ministered at the Cherry Hill Church of God for 46 1/2 years. She was head of the Ladies Auxillary for at least 25 years, and was responsible for teaching countless children about the Lord as both a Sunday School teacher and VBS teacher. She adored her family and cherished time spent with her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.     Visitation will be held on Sunday, August 25, 2019 from 4pm-7pm at Cherry Hill Church of God in Haleyville. Funeral services will be Monday, August 26 at the Church, where she will lie in state from 12:00-1:00 p.m., with services to begin at 1:00pm. Brother T.J. Milligan, Brother Royce Brimer, and Brother Butch Davis will officiate. Burial will be in the adjoining Church cemetery. Mrs. Brasher is survived by her sons, Ronnie Eugene Brasher, David Paul (Patricia) Brasher, and Mark Delane Brasher; her daughters, Carol Rebecca (Ted) McAlister, and Rachel Denise (Jesse) Carey; and her brother Don (Francis ) Pearson. She was a dear “Mamaw” to ten grandchildren: Sheril Laine Brasher, Christopher Darrel McAlister, Alisha Diane Allen, Deidre Nesmith, Natasha Danielle Brasher, Erika Davida Gilbert, Ronnie Eugene Brasher II (Bo), Jennifer McAlister, Cheyenne Nicole Miller, Jasmine Storm Carey, and Stephanie LeShae Foster. Ten great-grandchildren also called her “Mamaw”: Benjamin Madison Allen, James Richard Allen III (Jay), Kaylee Grace Allen, David Wiley Posey, Piper Haylee Gibson, Tristan Blake Gilbert, Marcus Tyler Madison Nesmith, Kayson Riley Estabon Nesmith, Mary Elizabeth McAlister and Kylee Montene Bookhardt. Mrs. Brasher was preceded in death by her husband of 62 years, Rev. Billy Eugene Brasher; her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Matt Pearson; her brother Ray (Maizie) Pearson, and her sisters Minnie (Bob) Freeman and Dorothy Pearson.
