Cora Adeline Matheson

August 26, 1926 — March 5, 2020

Cora Adeline Matheson, 93 of Crane Hill, entered into rest on Thursday, March 5, 2020 at her home. Ms. Matheson was born on August 26, 1926 in Springfield, Illinois. Cora was a proud military wife that helped support the beginning of the Blue Angels, of whom her husband, LeRoy, was a pilot. She was also a member of the Arley Women's Club, and she and her husband, LaVerne, were instrumental in forming the Smith Lake Advocacy Group. She was a family oriented, sweet, loving person who was known for her angelic smile and contagious laugh. Cora Adeline Matheson, whom we mourn, has entered into the peace of eternal life. She still lives on in the acts of goodness she performed and in the hearts of those who cherish her memory. May the memory of her life abide amongst us as a loving benediction. To honor the memory of our dear Mother, Grandmother and Aunt, "Ms. Cora", Cora Adeline Simpson Mosher Matheson, there will be a small family gathering at her Smith Lake home on Saturday, March 28, 2020. The ceremony will be from 2pm-4pm, with snack and covered dish buffet from 4pm-6pm. A moment of silence at 3pm central for those who are remote and out of state. Candles will be lit in memory. Guests are welcome to stop by between 4pm and 7pm. A small amount of flowers are welcome or in lieu of flowers, feel free to donate to the Arley Women's Club, LaVerne Matheson Scholarship Fund or the Smith Lake Advocacy Group Cleanup Fund at 67 County Road 220, Crane Hill, Alabama 35053. Also donations to the same are available on her Facebook or the groups mentioned online, are appreciated. Mosher; daughters, Barbara Ann Mosher and Cherin Lee Moradian; stepsons, Peter LaVerne Matheson and William Allen Matheson; stepdaughters, Laurel Ann Dinerstein and Jennifer Kay Hughes; 5 grandchildren; 1 great grandchildren; 5 step-grandchildren; and 8 step-great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her first husband, LeRoy Oscar Mosher; second husband, LaVerne Eugene Matheson; parents, Robert David Simpson and Margaret Lee Sneathen Simpson; and brother, William David Simpson.
