William Leonard “W.L.” Barnes, 68 of Double Springs, entered into rest on Sunday, December 27, 2020 at his home surrounded by his loving family.
W.L. was born on December 23, 1952 in Haleyville, Alabama. W.L. graduated from Lynn High School in 1971. He worked as a truck driver, loved hunting, fishing, and football.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, December 29, 2020 from 1-2pm at Pleasant Hill Baptist Church No. 2 in the Ashridge Community, where services will be at 2pm. Burial will be in the adjoining cemetery. Brother Jeff Burleson and Brother Mitch McSwain will officiate. The family requests that all who attend please wear a mask.
W.L. is survived by his wife, Shirley Barnes; daughter, Sherry (Jeff) Burleson; grandsons, Joshua Burleson and Caleb (Samantha) Burleson; 1 great grandson, Eli Burleson; sisters, Nemia (Cranford) Taylor, Elizabeth (Albert) Cagle, Sara Parson, Wanda (Anthony) Dutton, and Jaunita (Earl) Liverette; and brother, Billy (Eva) Barnes.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Clarence and Willie Lou Barnes; son, Johnny Wayne Young; sister, Kathern Bridges; and brother, Harold Barnes.
