Sarah Ruth Townsend

Sarah Ruth Townsend, 91 of Lynn, passed away September 14, 2023 at her residence.

She was born March 26, 1932. Sarah loved cooking, sewing, gardening, and spending time with her family. She also loved her church (Lynn Baptist Church).

Visitation will be held on Tuesday, September 19, 2023 from 12:00pm- 2:00pm at Nichols Funeral Home in Haleyville, where the service will be at 2:00pm. Brother Kim Byram will officiate. Burial will follow at Ashbank Cemetery in Nauvoo.

Sarah is survived by her daughter, Marie Guthrie and husband Garland; grandchildren, Vicki Guthrie, Kathy Snell, and Rhonda Gilliland and husband Chris; great grandchildren, Devin Norris, Chloe Gilliland, Haylee Gilliland, Ocean Bowman, Meagan Snell, Phillip Snell, and Kaleb Snell; great great grandchildren, Michael J’Kobi Castillo, James Preston Hogeland, and Lyla Rose Snell; brother Lloyd Ray Barnes; and a host of nieces, nephews, and friends.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Chesterfee Townsend; father, William Calvin Barnes; mother, Sarah Rosa Barnes; son, Jerry Wayne Townsend; stepchildren, Horace Townsend, Grady Townsend, Mildred Mann, and Lois Turner; 6 sisters and 8 brothers.
