He was born December 25, 1942, in Houston Alabama. He graduated from Winston County High School in 1961 and then went on to serve his country in the United States Air Force from 1961-1965. After returning home from the Air Force he operated the family business (Taylor Oil) for 53 years. He was a long time member of Double Springs First Baptist Church where he served as a deacon and many other positions. He loved his family, town and country greatly, but his first love was his God. He served God in many ways but one of the greatest was by helping others. His hobbies consisted of whatever his children and grandchildren wanted to do, whether it be playing in the yard, taking trips or just spending time together. He was a loving and devoted husband, father and grandfather and his legacy will live on forever.
He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Lavonia Elenburg Taylor; son, Matthew (Stefanie) Taylor; daughter, Jill Taylor (Jeremy) Blevins;
brother, Wally Taylor; sisters, Gay Kiker, Sue Tasker, and Jo (Wendell) Hood; 9 grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Louie and Avalee Taylor, brothers-in-law, John Kiker and John Tasker; nephews, Mark Kiker and Drew Taylor.
