Ruth Burney

Ruth Burney, age 94 of Addison, passed away Saturday, November 20, 2021 at home surrounded by her loving family. She was born August 12, 1927 to Bryant and Alice Whitfield. Ruth was an escort driver for many years. Visitation will be Tuesday, November 23, 2021 from 6:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m. at Nichols Funeral Home in Addison, where the service will be held at 1:00 p.m. Burial will be at the Addison Church of God Cemetery. Pastor Garry Barton will officiate. Ruth is survived by her daughter, Delder Anders; grandchildren, Kody Smothers, Jody Smothers, Sandra Moran, Tyler Wilson, Robbie Wilson, and Scottie Osborn; 27 great grandchildren; 31 great-great grandchildren; and a host of nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband Gene Burney; parents Bryant and Alice Whitfield; daughters, Nellarie Osborn, Sandra Cook, and Gloria Avery; sisters, Lois Dheel, Juanita Winstead, and Peggy Brown; and grandchildren, Sherry Pearson, Barbie Wilson, Anthony Pearson, and James Kilgo.
