Phillip Hutcheson

Phillip Andrew Hutcheson, age 76, of the Sardis Community in Addison, AL, passed away on Friday, August 25, 2023, at a Birmingham hospital.

Phillip was born in Addison, Alabama on March 30, 1947, son of the late James Andrew Hutcheson and the late Lola Agnes Hightower Hutcheson.  He was also preceded in death by a grandson, Grant Hutcheson, and by two sisters, L. G. Everett and Delila Aday.  Phillip was a 1965 graduate of Addison High School and was a veteran of the U. S. Army serving during the Vietnam War.  Prior to retirement, he worked for Cullman Products for 40 years.  He was a devoted man of God and faithful member of Sardis #2 Baptist Church where he had taught Sunday School and was currently serving as a Deacon.  He loved the Lord and his family with all his heart.

Survivors include his wife, Barbara Lee Hutcheson, to whom he was married on December 19, 1970; two sons, Jamie Hutcheson (Laura) and Jason Hutcheson (Kim); three grandchildren, Caleb Hutcheson, Katelyn Hutcheson, and Gracie Hutcheson; a brother, Windel Hutcheson; a sister, Nelda Cole (Jimmy); four nieces, Trisha Dale Tinker (John), Gail Everett, Denise Sibley (Chris), and Michelle Cole; a nephew, Joseph Aday; several great & great-great nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, August 30, 2023, at Sardis #2 Baptist Church with a congregational singing beginning at 12:30pm and the service beginning at 1pm.  Bro. William McClellan and Bro. Daniel Lee will officiate.  Interment will follow in the church cemetery with Bro. David Miller officiating.

The family will receive friends at Sardis #2 Baptist Church on Tuesday from 5 until 8pm.

Pallbearers are asked to assemble at the church on Wednesday at 2:30pm and include: Active: Ricky Meigs, Ethan Jordan, Ted Alexander, Dennis Hale, Robbie Lee, and Gary Lee.  Honorary: Chad Lee, Joey Smithson, Kent Cooper, Tim Gregory, and the men of Sardis #2 Baptist Church.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions be made to the Sardis #2 Baptist Church Building Fund, 180 County Road 1038, Vinemont, AL 35179.
