Lovenia Violet Barnes, 93, of Haleyville, passed away on Sunday, October 24, 2021 at the Cullman Regional Medical Center. Lovenia was born in Alabama on March 3, 1928 to the late Troy Curtis Nix and Millie Decie Blackwell Nix. She worked as a lunchroom manager for the Winston County Board of Education. She was a longtime member of Sardis #1 Missionary Baptist Church and loved quilting along with cooking for others. She is survived by her son, Danny Kelly; grandchildren, Chris (Tammy) Kelly, Tara (Matt) Carroll, Brandon (Jennifer) Kelly and Scott (Sharon) Kelly; great grandchildren, Blake, Ashley, Logan, Layne, Cole, Sierra, Olivia, Mattie, and Landon; brother, Curtis (Jane) Nix; host of nieces, nephews, other loving family and friends. She is preceded in death by her husbands, Arlis “Bud” Kelly and Waymon Barnes; sons, Don Kelly and Bobby Barnes; parents, Troy and Decie Nix; sisters, Norene Pair and Dot Sides; brother, James Nix . Funeral services will be held at Sardis #1 Baptist Church on Wednesday, October 27, 2021 at 3:00 PM with burial in the adjoining cemetery. The family will receive friends on Wednesday, October 27, 2021 from 2:00 pm until the time of service at the church. Rev. Ronnie Melvin will officiate the services.
