Lewis Jack Baldwin, 97, of Double Springs, Alabama entered into rest on June 26, 2019 at Hendrix Health Care.
Mr. Baldwin was born on February 7, 1922. Jack was a World War II veteran that served in the United States Army. He was Cannon Company 290th Infantry, Gun Crew, Light Artillery, where he was a member of a 105-mm Howitzer crew using semi-fixed ammunition; assisted in moving, emplacing, firing, displacing, and with drawing the piece in combat operations. He fought, earned and was awarded the Combat Infantryman Badge for MM Rifle Carbine Expert, European African Middle Eastern Service Medal with 1 Silver Star, Good Conduct Medal AR 600-68, and Purple Heart from 4th Headquarters 2nd Infantry Division January 9, 1945.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, June 27, 2019 from 6pm-8pm at Nichols Funeral Home in Double Springs, where services will be held on Friday, June 28, 2019 at 11am. Reverend Buford Smith will officiate. Burial will follow in Houston Community Cemetery in Houston, Alabama with military honors.
Jack is survived by his son, Larry Jack Baldwin; one grandson; one great grandson; and a host of nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Jeanette Baldwin; parents, Lewis and Savannah Baldwin; and son, Lewis Ray Baldwin.
