Johnny Colburn, 73, of Haleyville, entered into rest on May 29, 2019 at his home.
Johnny was born on March 4, 1946, in Walker County, Alabama. He was a truck driver from 1973 to 2007 and was known on the CB radio as “Plowboy”. He loved talking to people and spending time with his grandkids. He earned the title “World’s Best Paw Paw”.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, May 30, 2019 from 6:00 pm to 9:00 pm at New Hope Church at Mt. Ebron in Double Springs, where services will be held Friday, May 31, 2019 at 2pm. Burial will follow in Mt Ebron Cemetery in Double Springs, Alabama. Brother Larry Shifflett will officiate.
Johnny is survived by his wife of 53 years, Brenda Colburn; sons, Vernon (Pat) Colburn and Sammy (Vera) Colburn; daughters, Stephanie (William) Martin and Lou Ann Adair; brother, James H. (Bonnie) Colburn; sister, Lois (Bobby) Ayers; brother-in-law, Alfred Hunter; he was paw paw to 16 grandchildren: Victoria (Bruce) Martin, Andy Meadows, Felicia Colburn, Jon (Lori) Colburn, Staci (Cody) Glover, Kayla (Jacob) Moore, Heath (Samantha) Adair, Tritt (Corrissa) Martin, Kim (Keith) Self, Holly (Bud) Barnett, Cherise Long, Joey Borden, Diana Borden, Carrie (Joseph) Orrick, Mark Benefield, and Danielle Burnett; paw paw to 26 great grandchildren; extended family, Rose, Marvin, Sally, and William Pearson; dispatcher, Doris Blanton; boss, James (Rhonda) Glenn.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Johnnie and Vernice Colburn; sister, Doris Hunter; and infant sister, Itra Jean Colburn.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the family for funeral expenses.
