James Roland Whitman

James R. Whitman, 85 of Haleyville, entered into rest on Monday, May 4, 2020 at his home surrounded by his loving family.

James was born on May 14, 1934 in Winston County, Alabama. He proudly served his country for over twenty years in the United States Air Force, where he retired as a Staff Sergeant.

As per State and Federal guidelines, a private service will be held. Burial will be Williams Cemetery in Black Pond. Brother Jake Yarborugh will officiate.

James is survived by his sons, James Whitman, David Whitman and Steve Whitman; daughters, Doris Barr and her husband, Frances Whitehead and Judy Kizewski; sister, Jeanette Riddle; and step-sister, Lanita Hamby.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Ruby D. Whitman; and daughter, Lynda Whitman.
