Jackie Lee York

Jackie York, age 87 of Massey Community, passed away Monday, November 20, 2023, at his home surrounded by his loving family.

He was born December 28, 1935, in Lawrence, County, Alabama. Jackie was the 10^th of 14 children, and he loved his family, meeting people, and making new friends. He was a devoted husband for 68 years. Jackie loved playing music as he was a skilled musician and he loved turkey hunting and being in the woods.

He entered the USAF at 19 years of age and retired in 1974 after 20 years of service. After leaving the Air Force, Jackie went to work for the Navy as a civilian for 20 years working on surface ships and submarines. He retired from the Navy in 1994 where he then moved back home to Larence County, Alabama on the family farm.

A graveside service will be held on Friday, November 24, 2023, at 11:00am at Corinth West Cemetery in Vinemont, Alabama. Brother Donnie Carroll will officiate.

Jackie is survived by his grandson, Coalson Cooper; sister, Bonnie Lipsey; brother, Danny York; and a host of other family and friends.

He is preceded in death by his parents, James Carl and Fannie Holland York; sons, Calvin and Raymond York; and wife Doris Jean Wilder York.
