Gladys A. Gunter

Gladys A. Gunter, 81 of Double Springs, entered into rest on Friday, August 4, 2023 in her residence surrounded by her loving family.

She was born on January 12, 1942, in Double Springs, Alabama. Mrs. Gladys Gunter was a beautiful Christian wife and Mother Who loved the Lord and raised her children to love and honor Him too. She was the wife that God called her to be, faithful until the end by caring for her husband despite the obstacles they faced.

She believed in and valued hard work. She ran her home by God's word. She worked diligently with her hands preparing food, cleaning, quilting, tending her garden, sewing for her family, and many others.

She pressed on even when her body was tired. She spoke of the One from whom her strength came, pointing her family and all who would listen to Jesus. She loved her church and her church family at Pleasant Hill # 2. She was proud and thankful of each of her children and grandchildren.

She loved her nurses and all who gave her care when she wasn't able to do things on her own.

Even in the end, she was a witness to others, of the One whom her strength came. Mrs. Gladys will be missed but if we are saved, we have the assurance that we can go be with her.

A visitation will be held on Tuesday, August 8, 2023, from 10:00am until 12:00pm at Pleasant Hill #2 Baptist Church where services will follow at 12:00pm. Burial will follow the services at the adjoining cemetery. Brother Ricky Robins, Brother Jim Robins, and Brother Jeff Wiggins will officiate.

Gladys is survived by her son, Johnny (Shelia) Gunter; daughters, Debra (Frankie) Ward, Vickie Martin, and Susan (Chris) Comeens; special son/grandson, Sam (Laura) Lewis; 18 grandchildren; 26 great grandchildren; and 11 great great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Johnnie Lee and Idella Robins; husband, Bobby Gunter; grandson, Jon Gunter; granddaughter, Toni Elizabeth Corbin; and siblings, Edith Williamson, Bill Robins, Leon Robins, and Margaret Jeannette Robins.
