George Emory Elam

George Emory Elam, 86 of Addison, entered into rest on Saturday, January 11, 2020 at The Folsom Center in Cullman surrounded by family.

Mr. Elam was born on June 11, 1933 in Bankhead National Forest, Alabama. George graduated from Addison High School in 1952. He owned and operated his own excavation business for 55 years. George was a hard working, good man who was loved and respected by all who knew him. He was a loving husband, father, and grandfather, and he will be greatly missed.

Visitation will be on Tuesday, January 14, 2020 from 5:30pm-7:30pm at Nichols Funeral Home Chapel in Addison, where services will be on Wednesday at 12:00pm. He will lie in state from 11:00am-12:00pm. Mr. Elam will be laid to rest at Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church Cemetery.

He was preceded in death by his first wife, Betty Ashworth Elam; daughter, Judy Annette Peak; son-in-law, Dennis Carroll Rowe; and parents, Dock and Annie Elam.

George is survived by his daughters, Sheila Smith, Darlene (Chris) Hays; second wife, Sue Elam; grandchildren, Dennis (Jenny) Rowe Jr., Kenneth (Tara) McNeal, Whitney (Caleb) Smith, Aundrea (Brian) Richardson, Lisa (Jason) Perdelwitz, and Brad (Amanda) Peak; great-grandchildren, Reilly, Emory, Jaxon, Raylee, Micah, Isaiah, Madeline, Tyler, Abby, Tori, Grace, and Kaden; stepchildren, Susan Willoughby, and Todd Suggs.
