Gail Sawyer

Jessie “Gail” Sawyer, age 78 of Haleyville, Alabama, passed away Monday, May 1, 2023, at University of Alabama Birmingham Hospital.

Gail was born on April 22, 1945 in Lynn, Alabama. She loved her family, her church, and her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. Gail was a very caring person and a member of Mt. Zion Baptist Church.

A visitation will be held on Friday, May 5, 2023 from 12:00pm to 2:00pm at Nichols Funeral Home in Haleyville, where the service will be held at 2:00pm. Burial will follow in Mt. Zion Cemetery. Brother John Humphries will officiate.

Gail is survived by her husband, Gary Sawyer; sons, David Sawyer, Jeremy Sawyer, and Terrell Sawyer; sister-in-law, Karen Higginbotham; sister, Betty Dill; grandchildren, Ajah Sawyer, Emma Sawyer, and Blake Sawyer; nephew, Darren Dill; and a host of other nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Dewey and Minnie Dodd; brother, Charles Dodd; and grandparents, Wiley and Sarah Dodd, and George and Isabelle Kelly.
