Frances Tidwell

Frances LD Doss Tidwell, 81, of Bear Creek, passed away on Thursday, December 2, 2021 at her home in Bear Creek.

Frances was born on January 10, 1940 in Marion County Alabama. She was a graduate of Haleyville High School. She also attended Northwest Alabama Community College to obtain her teaching certificate. She was a long time employee of Haleyville Textile and the Kellwood Company. She taught Head Start at Northwest Alabama Community College for 10 years before she retired. She was a member of the Mountain Home Church of Christ for close to 40 years. As a professional seamstress, she loved to sew and make clothes for everyone, especially her granddaughter, Nikki. She loved teaching Sunday school, doing crafts, reading, tending to her flowers and playing games on her Kindle and her computer. Frances also enjoyed spending time with her granddaughter Nikki. She was a loving Mother, Grandmother, Aunt and friend.

Visitation will be held on Saturday, December 11, 2021 at Nichols Funeral Home Chapel in Haleyville from 1:00 pm – 2:00pm. A Memorial Service will follow at 2:00 pm. Wayne Phillips and Lee Barnett will officiate. In lieu of flowers the family asked that donations be made in her honor to the American Heart Association and the American Kidney Foundation.

Frances is survived by her son, Jeff Tidwell and special son, Tim (Caressa) Doss; daughter, Jennifer Tidwell and special daughter, Julia Tidwell; five grandchildren, Julia Nicole Tidwell, Nick Parker, Sophia Doss, Jake Doss and Christian Doss; her lifelong friend, Katherine Weaver and her loyal and faithful grand-pups, Buster, Penny, Lucy and Captain Jack.

Frances is preceded in death by her husband of 57 years, Lavoun Tidwell; her parents, Filo and Jessie Doss; sister, Linda Doss; and brothers, Roy, James and Thurston Doss.
