Dorothy Ann Davis Tuggle , 84, of Double Springs, Alabama passed away peacefully December 5, 2023. Born in Alexander City, she graduated from Decatur High School. A proud graduate of Ida V. Moffet Nursing School in 1961 and Emory University in 1984 she devoted almost 50 years of her life to caring for others as an RN and Enterostomal Therapist at Princeton.
She delivered babies, worked the ER, was published in wound care, did home health and hospice. In her own words she “has gone from the miracle of birth to the miracle of the dying process.”
She is proceeded in death by her parents Paralee and Walter H. Davis Jr. and her husband of 59 years Charles L. Tuggle. They raised their family in Forestdale. She is survived by her children Charles Lee “Chuck” Tuggle Jr. (Karen), Joseph and Chase. Cynthia Tuggle Thomas (Jim), Catherine Reed, Blake and Lore. Cathy Tuggle Maple (Tony) Cory Davis, Molly and Jesilyn Maple. Brothers Jim (Lynda) Davis, Allen (Jill) Davis, sister Faye Christensen, nieces, nephews and beloved friends.
Dot was an artist, seamstress and master gardener. She was a member of the Double Springs Study Club, President of the Homemakers Association and was “Mrs. Claus” for the ARC of Walker County.
The family would like to thank Kirkwood by the River for their exceptional, loving, compassionate care.
Visitation will be Saturday, December 9, 2023 from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. at Nichols Funeral Home in Double Springs, where the service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Burial will be at Walker Memory Gardens in Jasper. Brother Gary White will officiate.
In celebration of the life of Dot Tuggle, read something, sew something, paint something, plant something or go on an adventurous road trip. Donations in her memory to her beloved Corinth Church (34 Waid Road, Double Springs, AL. 35553) go towards supporting worthy causes and the community she made her final home.
Her favorite Erma Bombeck, quote said, “When I stand before God at the end of my life, I would hope that I would not have a single bit of talent left, and could say, 'I used everything you gave me'.
Dot Tuggle definitely did.
