Clora Christine Carter, 92, of Double Springs entered into rest on Friday, August 21, 2020 at her residence surrounded by her loving family.
She was born on September 4, 1927 in Double Springs, Alabama. Christine was a loving mother, who loved her kids and grandkids and loved being a housewife. She enjoyed canning, gardening and working in her flower gardens tending her roses. She loved going to church and reading her Bible every morning.
Visitation will be held on Sunday, August 23, 2020 from 12pm-2pm at Nichols Funeral Home in Double Springs, where the service will begin at 2pm. Brother T.J. Millican and Brother James Hood will officiate. Burial will follow in Fairview Cemetery in Double Springs.
Christine is survived by her sons, Thomas Freeman and his wife, Connie, Billy Carter and his wife, Sandra, Teddy Carter and his wife, Marylynn and Allen Carter and his wife, Angie; daughters, Retia Walker and her husband, Tinsley, Anita Benford and her husband, Lonzo and Freda Salter and her husband, Timmy; 23 grandchildren; 55 great grandchildren and 1 great great grandchild.
She was preceded in death by her parents, John Riley Overton and Sarah Elizabeth Hicks Overton; her husband, O.D. Carter; sisters, Flovia Hill, Lucy Thomas and Ozzie Bennett; brothers, John Overton, Leldon Overton, Alvin Overton, Jack Overton and James Overton and a great grandson, Adam Hendrix.
