Bobby Lee Walker

Bobby Lee Walker, 72, of Double Springs, Alabama, passed away Thursday morning September 30, 2021, at Brookwood Baptist Walker Medical Center. 

He was preceded in death by his father; William Henry Walker, mother; Rosa Lee Ingram Walker, sisters; Julia Ashley and Beatrice White, and Granddaughter; Destiny Walker.

Bobby was born on June 21, 1949 to William Henry Walker and Rosa Lee Walker (Ingram), in Jasper, Alabama. He was born at People’s Hospital and delivered by Dr. Walker. 

He lived in Winston County, AL in the Black Pond Community until the age of 3, at that time his family moved to Birmingham, AL.

Bobby attended Cunningham Elementary and Woodlawn High School where he graduated in 1967. He began working at Southern Natural Gas (SONAT) in 1969 and worked there until 1994. In 1995, he returned to Winston County and the Black Pond Community and resided there until his death.

Bobby married Deborah Kay Birmingham on May 13th, 1989. They welcomed their son, James William Ethan Walker, on October 31, 1989. From a previous marriage, Bobby’s daughter; Cynthia Dawn Walker and son; Bobby Lee Walker Jr completed his family.

Bobby loved genealogy and working on his family history. He was a Scout Master for the Boy Scouts and loved watching Alabama football. He loved God, his family, and helping others. He was a good husband, father, brother, and friend. 

Bobby is survived by his loving wife of 32 years Deborah, daughter; Cindy Mobley (Sammie), sons; Bobby Walker Jr. and Ethan Walker (Morgan), Five Grandchildren; Tiffany Smith, Meagan Smith, Spencer Walker, Jeanie Jones (Jake), Ciara Cowans. Nine Great Grandchildren, Sister; Brenda Suttles (Lee), brother-in-law; Duane White, and many nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be held Saturday, October 9, 2021 at Nichols Funeral Home in Double Springs from 12:00 Noon – 1:00 p.m. (The family will have a private visitation one hour prior to welcoming the public at 12:00 Noon) . The funeral service will be held at 1:00 p.m. Burial will be at Williams Cemetery, Black Pond Community. Brother Steve Kimbrough will officiate.
