Barry Gene Odom, 57, of Arley passed away on Sunday, January 26, 2020 at DCH Regional Medical Center in Tuscaloosa.
Mr. Odom was born December 13, 1962 in Jasper. Barry lived in Arley and took an active part in his church and community. He was a kind and gentle person who was always happy and never met a stranger. Barry loved Meek sports, especially Meek Toy Bowl, serving as their manager. He was a big fan of Alabama football. At age three, he began his schooling at the Shrine School in Jasper. At age seven, Barry started further education at the Alabama School for the Deaf in Talladega; graduating in May, 1984.
Visitation will be on Thursday, January 30, 2020 from 11am-1pm at Arley Congregational Christian Church, with funeral to follow at 1pm. Reverend Robert Partridge and Doctor Tim Noland will officiate the service. Burial will follow in the adjoining cemetery.
Barry is survived by his mother, Annie Odom Evans; uncle, Willard (Shelby) Wadsworth; aunts, Nola Key, Loree Peppers and Gwenda (Thomas) Tidwell; special friend, Shirley Martin and a host of cousins.
He was preceded in death by his father, Roy Lee Odom; an infant brother and grandparents, Milford and Flora Wadsworth and Buel and Evelyn Odom.
