Barbara Ellen Hendrix

Barbara Ellen Hendrix, age 88, passed away peacefully on Monday February 5, 2024 at her home in Double Springs.

She was born June 13, 1935, in the Liberty Grove community to Wiley and Bessie Donaldson. Barbara married Dale Frank Hendrix, Sr. in December 1955, who preceded her in death in 2009. Barbara was a wonderful mother who was there when she was needed. She had many friends and was a well-loved member of the Double Springs community. She was a member of First Baptist Church of Double Springs. 

The family asks that she be remembered for the joy, love, and laughter she brought to others in life, and not the sadness of her passing. 

Visitation will be Thursday, February 8, 2024 from 12:00 Noon until 2:00 p.m. at First Baptist Church of Double Springs, where the service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Burial will be at Fairview Cemetery in Double Springs. Pastor Phillip Twilley and Brother George Whitten will officiate. Pallbearers will be Eric Lott, Luke Hendrix, Austin Hendrix, Mike Watson, Eddie Covington, and Sonny Ward. Honorary Pallbearers will be Reid Hendrix and Steve Hendrix. 

Barbara is survived by her sons, Dale Hendrix, Jr. and his wife Tammy, Jeff Hendrix and his wife Hannah, and Barry Hendrix and his wife Lynn; sister, Delene Bradford; grandchildren, Eric Lott, Luke Hendrix, Reid Hendrix, Austin Hendrix, and Hayden Sims; special niece, Gail Price who is affectionately known as “Diddy”; and a host of nieces and nephews. 

She was preceded in death by her parents, Wiley and Bessie Donaldson; husband, Dale Hendrix, Sr.; and brothers, Wilton and Ray Donaldson.
