Alta Lucille Grimes, age 69 of Tuscumbia formerly of Haleyville, passed away December 26, 2006 at Lakeland Community Hospital. Services will be 11:00 a.m. December 29th at Nichols Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will follow in Winston Memorial Cemetery. Reverend Richard Harbin, Jr. and Reverend Doug McDonald officiating. Survivors: 3 Sons-Eldon (Linda) Grimes of Florida, Ricky (Teresa) Grimes of Haleyville and Floyd (Christine) Grimes of Jasper. 1 Daughter-Laquetia (Jimmie) Barbee of Tuscumbia. 1 Brother-Hal Newman of Arkansas. 3 Sisters-Ruby Durham of Indiana, Peggy Willis of Tennessee and Flossie Walker of Haleyville. 9 Grandchildren 12 Great Grandchildren Preceded in death by her husband, Reverend L.A. Grimes, parents, Arthur and Nora Newman, a sister, Rene Benegas, a grandson, Andrew Grimes and a daughter-in-law, Simmie Grimes. Arrangements by Nichols Funeral Home of Haleyville.
