Floye Duene Meigs, 90 of Water Valley Community, entered into rest on Sunday, November 5, 2017 at Decatur Morgan Hospital. He was born on July 20. 1927 in Winston County, Alabama. Floye was a longtime member of Sardis Baptist No. 2, where he served as a Deacon. He proudly served his country in the United States Army for 2 years. Floye retired from Cullman Electric Cooperative as a groundman. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, and spending time with his family. Visitation will be held on Monday, November 6, 2017 from 6-8pm at Sardis Baptist Church No. 2 in Addison, where services will be held on Tuesday at 2pm. Brother William McClellan and Brother Jeff Wiggins will officiate. Burial will be at Sardis Baptist Church No. 2 Cemetery, Addison. Floye is survived by his wife of 67 years, Dean Elam Meigs; sons, Rickey Meigs and wife Sheila, Rodger Meigs and wife Penny; he was "Paw Paw Hub" to 4 grandchildren, Rachel (Jordan) King, Hannah (James) Couch, Abbey Meigs, Lana (Vance) Hines; 2 great grandchildren, Presley Couch, Emmy Hines; special friends and devoted caregivers, Glenn Meigs, Daryl and Phyllis Alexander. He was preceded in death by his parents, James William (Bill) and Mary Alice Meigs; 4 brothers; and 1 sister. In lieu of flowers, Floye requested donations be made to your home church.
