Billy "Bill" Clayton Griffin

Billy "Bill" Clayton Griffin, 70, of Haleyville, entered into rest on February 11, 2018 at Lakeland Community Hospital.

Mr. Griffin was born on June 21, 1947, in Tuscaloosa. He served in the United States Army. Bill worked for the United States Postal Service for 34 years, 30 of which were in Jasper, where he received several awards. Bill enjoyed watching Alabama football, Nascar, and spending time with his grandkids and great grandkids.

Visitation will be held on Sunday, February 18, 2018 from 1pm-2pm at Nichols Funeral Home in Haleyville, where services will be held at 2pm. Brother Gary Wakefield will officiate. Burial will follow in Old Trinity Missionary Baptist Church Cemetery.

Bill is survived by his sons, Frank Griffin and wife Ashley H., William C Griffin; daughter, Cynthia "Cindy" Godsey; sister, Cathy Yoak and her husband Tim; he was known as "Papa" to 10 grandchildren, Kincaide Harris, Montgomery Griffin, Denver Marie Griffin, Khloe Griffin, T.J. Nichols, Travis Nichols, Taylor Nichols, Holly Griffin, Hunter Godsey, Justin Godsey; and 5 great grandchildren, Billy C.S. Griffin, Lexie Grace Medina, Christopher Fretwell, Nathan Godsey, and Elliott Godsey.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Shirley Griffin; daughter, Tammy Nichols; parents, Lowell and Ada Griffin; brother, James Johnson; and sister, Shirley Tilman.
